Hard drive backup freeware is an inexpensive way to protect your data. If your data is important to you but you’re on a budget, then you might want to consider using one of the many free windows backup programs available to you. I've created a short list of reliable freeware backup software to aid you in your search. This is all well-behaved freeware. They don't contain spyware, they won't nag you to buy something else, and if you don't like it, they're easy to uninstall.

This is an easy to use backup program that even provides support through a user forum. It allows you to automatically schedule backups and if you want to keep your backup current throughout the day, there is even an option check for file changes every 20 minutes. Mozy Online Backup Service
Backing up your data to an offline location adds an extra level of security. It saves you from disasters such as hard drive theft, or from natural disasters such as floods or fires. It can also be a lifesaver if you should lose your data while you’re traveling. Mozy gives you 2GB of free storage which is plenty considering how long it can take to upload 2GB of data. You can make 2GB go a long way if you avoid uploading image or program files.

Comodo Backup
This is a full featured backup program. It is provided by a large consulting company for free. Some of the features are: Encryption, scheduling, FTP Backup, and backup to CD/DVD. Ace Backup
I saved the best free backup for last. This program has all the bells and whistles of the Comodo Backup but it also includes a feature called “Multi-Versioning” which can be very helpful if you’ve backed up a corrupted file. The multi versioning feature keeps old copies of an updated file within the same archive.
